Sage Psychological Services

Psychology in EastFremantle,Built Around You.

Evidence-based, individualised therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, and life’s harder chapters. A calm, private space in the heart of East Fremantle.

A different kind of psychology practice.

Sage Psychological Services is a private psychology practice in East Fremantle, offering thoughtful, individualised care to adults across the Fremantle and wider Perth community. We are deliberately small. That is the point.

When you come to Sage you work directly with Jacob Jones, a registered psychologist who takes the time to understand not just what you are experiencing, but why. There is no revolving door of practitioners and no one-size-fits-all programme. There is simply a considered, collaborative approach shaped around your history, your goals, and the pace that feels right for you.

Our approach draws on evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), integrated with psychodynamic and schema-based work where it helps. Whether you are seeking support for the first time or returning to therapy after a break, you will find a space here that is safe, unhurried, and genuinely tailored to you.

Support

What we help with.

People come to Sage for many reasons, and rarely for a single, tidy issue. Below are some of the areas Jacob works with most often. If what brings you here is not listed, it is still worth a conversation.

A single tree lit by a soft sunrise across a meadow

Grief, loss, and bereavement

Room to sit with loss and everything that surrounds it, without a timeline.

Wildflower meadow at golden hour

Work-related stress and burnout

For burnout, chronic work stress, and the moments when nothing seems to recharge you.

A tranquil forest path bathed in warm sunlight

Confidence, self-esteem, and identity

For working with self-esteem, identity, and the quieter questions of who you are.

Olive tree branches lit by warm evening light

Relationship difficulties and interpersonal patterns

For interpersonal patterns and the same kinds of difficulty that keep showing up.

Sunset reflections on a still lake surface

Anger and emotional regulation

For emotional regulation and the reactions that get in the way of the life you want.

Dew-covered grasses at sunrise

Alcohol, substance, and other dependencies

Support for alcohol, substance, and habits that have grown bigger than they were meant to.

Each of these is met with the same principle: therapy is tailored to the individual, drawing on the treatment approaches best suited to what you are working through.

Our therapeutic approaches.

At Sage we believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We take a personalised approach that draws on several evidence-based modalities to create the right programme for you. Our two areas of particular focus are:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

A structured, practical, and well-researched approach that helps you recognise and shift the thought and behaviour patterns keeping you stuck. CBT is a first-line treatment for anxiety and depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A specialised, evidence-based therapy for trauma that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their grip. EMDR is one of Jacob’s core areas of training.

Alongside these, Jacob draws on Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy, selecting and blending approaches to suit your needs rather than fitting you to a method.

Why choose Sage.

You see the same psychologist every time

Continuity matters in therapy. At Sage you build a working relationship with Jacob, not a rotating team, so your progress is never lost in a handover.

Genuinely individualised care

No scripted programmes. Jacob draws on a broad evidence base and shapes each session around your history, your goals, and your pace.

Accessible, transparent fees

Sage is a private billing practice with a deliberately low gap fee of $78.45 per session under a Mental Health Care Plan, well below the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee. Full details are on our fees and rebates page.

A calm, private setting

Located within the Silas Street Specialists in East Fremantle, the practice is designed to feel welcoming and safe from the moment you arrive.
